Bangkok Thai Deli

315 University Ave W

St. Paul

     •     Spring Rolls $3

     •     Green Curry $9

Yum, yum, yum. I have found a place that has a good (maybe slightly better) green curry than Lemon Grass Thai. This is one of those places where atmosphere is zero, but the food is wow! Everything I tasted including Steve's pad thai and our son's pho was outstanding. And my green curry was heavenly, I was torn between finishing every last drop and wanting to take some home to savor later. In retrospect, I should have finished every last drop and ordered some to go.

If you like Thai food and have not been, go there now!

     •     Pad Thai $8

I

’ve got to admit that I’ve been to Bangkok Thai Deli twice before. Along with Lemon Grass Thai, they have the best Pad Thai in town that I’ve had. BTD is hard to find even though it’s in plain sight on University Avenue in Saint Paul. There are no flashy lights or signs. You’re more likely to spot the nail shop in the front of the store. It has the feel of Mercado Central: nail shop, grocery, dress shop, video store, and deli/restaurant. What they lack in ambiance and high class service, they more than compensate for in high quality food.

The food is exceptional and very reasonable. The spring rolls were fresh and well put together. The pad thai is just spicy enough to enjoy all the flavors of the dish, and the portion size is generous. If you’re looking for great Thai food in the Twin Cities, you have to include this on your list of must-visits.
