     •     Curry Chicken Roti $10

I really like Marla's. It was a simple one step above hole in the wall atmosphere, but the food was really good and really hot. I had the Roti. The Caribbean is a melting pot of cultures so they featured Indian and Chinese food as well as what I would normally consider Caribbean like jerk chicken etc. I ordered my chicken curry roti hot since our son was eating his own meal of dumplings and plaintains. At Marla's hot is the middle temp you can go up to Indian hot and then Marla's hot. I am glad I just chose the hot. It was endurable and it was not so hot that you could not taste the spices. Which was good, because it had wonderful flavor. Marla's was the perfect escape from our MN winter.

     •     Shrimp Chowmein $12

So with some trepidation I ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein. I thought, what am I doing? This is going to be a train wreck. No, no, no. No train wreck. Beautiful spices, tasty shrimp, lo mein noodles chewy and delicious. Fried plantains, so sweet like they should be. Our son devoured the simple dumplings. Such a delightful meal, such a delightful place. The owner even came out of the kitchen to talk to all of the patrons at their tables. Marla, such a delightful woman.
