Northbound Smokehouse Brewpub

2716 East 38th Street

Minneapolis

     •     Open Face Turkey Sandwich $8.95

Northbound Smokehouse and Brew Pub was a pleasant experience. When we arrived without reservations on a Sat at 5pm it was pretty much packed. There was one four top and we were meeting another couple so we needed six chairs, but we were able to get another chair from another table and it all worked out with a highchair. I think I ordered the wrong thing, the turkey itself was good in the sandwich, but the gravy was bland and so were the potatoes. However, my son's chicken fingers were amazing. I would go back and order the fried chicken anything in a second.

Overall we had a good meal, it was hopping the entire time we were there so they are clearly doing many things right.

I really liked Northbound Smokehouse Brewpub. We met family there at 5:00 p.m. sharp on a Saturday night, and we were lucky enough to get one of the few remaining tables. I had the Big Jim IPA, which is billed as an intense IPA. Being a fan of pale ales, that was not a surprise. The smoked salmon wrap was very good and recommended. I liked everything about it - the quality salmon, havarti, and balanced flavors were fantastic. I was less impressed with Renee's sandwich, but hopefully that was an anomoly.

If you go, street parking is hard to find in the area. Expect to walk 1-2 blocks. Service is very good and attentive. The place fills up fast, apparently from a lack of good places to go in the area, so get there early or expect some wait time on weekends.
