Would we go back:
1515 E Lake Street
• Burrito - Al Pastor (w/ Mexican style bbq pork, wrapped with rice and beans) $6.30
Another great place in Mercado Central. They also have a location down the street which looked more like a sit down place so that could be good to check out as well.
I am not sure why I ordered the Burrito and not the tacos, maybe since it is a taqueria the tacos were too obvious of a choice, they looked really good, so I kinda regretted it, but not because my burrito was bad, because it was excellent. It is the same size as a popular chain that shall not be named and 100% tastier.
• Quesadillas - Carne Asada (charbroiled steak) served with rice and beans $6.50
Three for three. We’ve now been to three places in Mercado Central this year and we’ve rated each one excellent. Keep in mind that these are great cheap eats choices rated excellent in part because our scale considers value and taste.
But I can tell you that I’ve paid more for quesadillas that weren’t nearly as good. And the carne asada quesadillas at Taqueria La Hacienda are among the best in town. Taqueria La Hacienda may not be worth driving across town for, but if you live nearby, you should check them out.
